HCSO Recently Terminated Employee Fatally Shoots Self CoWorker At Katy Business

first_img Share – / 10Two people were killed and several schools placed on lockdown after a recently terminated employee opened fire Wednesday at a transportation business in Katy, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.It happened at about 8:43 a.m. at the Knights Transportation Facility located in the 20400 block of Franz Road.“The shooter was terminated a couple weeks ago. We understand that he came to this location armed with a shotgun and a handgun, began shooting — one of the employees here was shot. The shooter then committed suicide, as we understand, self-inflicted,” HCSO spokesman Ralph Gonzalez said.  Morton Ranch High School is across the street from the crime scene, and was on lockdown. A Katy Independent School District spokesperson said three other district campuses were also briefly closed.Gonzalez said other employees described what happened.“One of the employees stated that he said, ‘Ya’ll ruined my life.’ He parked in front, walked in the front door, and we understood he fired one round straight through … into an area where the drivers dine and have coffee — they think like a warning shot — and then started in the building,” he said.Two other employees sustained injuries from shrapnel or debris, as they ran to escape the shooting. One deputy hit his knee hard when responding officers had to hit the ground.
