first_imgEssequibo rice miller Wazeer Hussein is once again in hot water after he was arrested on Thursday evening after he reportedly continues to block the entrance to the Hampton Court Aerodrome, on the Essequibo Coast. He was reportedly escorted to Eveleary where he will be further question alone with his son who was also arrested.About a week ago, Hussein was slapped with several charges including resisting arrest, threatening behaviour and obstructing officials of the Guyana Lands and Survey Commission (GL&SC) from carrying out their duties.Hussein is claiming ownership of the plot of land that is used to gain access to theA plan of the reserve that is being blocked by Husseinaerodrome, but according to documents provided, the GL&SC had informed the businessman that the plot of land was owned by the State and as such, ordered that he give up possession of the reserve immediately.  The notice also stated that failure to comply will result in legal action being brought against him by the Commission.Guyana Times was told that Hussein has claimed ownership of the land for quite some time now, but only recently, he started to block the main access route to the facility which is supposed to be accessible on a 24-hour basis in case of emergencies.However, on Thursday, the miller was arrested and taken into custody after he refused to comply with the order.While this newspaper could not confirm what other offences he is being held for, it is believed that he is been questioned in relation to the death of a baby after the infant was transferred from the Essequibo Coast to the Georgetown Public Hospital.Guyana Times understands that on the day the baby was supposed to be transferred to Georgetown, Hussein blocked the entrance to the aerodrome, thus causing a prolonged delay in the execution of the medevac.In addition, this publication understands Hussein would have made several comments on social media which is also been allegedly investigated by the Police.last_img read more
