first_imgArt Briles is no longer the head coach at Baylor, and if the latest report by Joe Schad is true, it looks like some of his assistants may be out soon too. Schad, formerly of ESPN, posted a long note to Facebook Tuesday afternoon, reporting that a former Baylor student named Dolores Lozano claims she was assaulted by former football player Devin Chafin and that both Briles and assistant Jeff Lebby knew about it. She even alleges that she and Lebby exchanged texts about the situation. She says that she brought allegations to the Waco Police, but Chafin was allowed to continue playing. She says the school never had a formal hearing either.Schad also reports details of the alleged assault and includes photos of the injuries Lozano reportedly suffered from the incident. dolores lozano facebookHere is a photo provided to me by former Baylor student Dolores Lozano— Joe Schad (@schadjoe) June 7, 2016Jeff Lebby, currently the Baylor passing game/RBs coach, did not have immediate comment about Lozano’s claims— Joe Schad (@schadjoe) June 7, 2016The fallout at Baylor does not appear to be over just yet. first_imgKarl-Heinz Rummenigge is not concerned by the prospect of Robert Lewandowski being Bayern Munich’s only recognised out-and-out striker for the remainder of the season.Bayern sanctioned the sale of Sandro Wagner on Wednesday, just a year on from his arrival from Hoffenheim, after the Germany international received a lucrative offer from Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda.Speaking after the transfer was confirmed, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic stated: “Sandro Wagner came up to us and asked for a release from his contract. He has a very attractive offer from China and we have met his request.  Article continues below Editors’ Picks ‘There is no creativity’ – Can Solskjaer get Man Utd scoring freely again? ‘Everyone legged it on to the pitch!’ – How Foden went from Man City superfan to future superstar Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? “We expressly thank Sandro for spending time with FC Bayern and wish him all the best and much success for his future in China.”With Bayern trailing leaders Borussia Dortmund by six points in the Bundesliga table, and still competing in the DFB-Pokal and Champions League, the decision to sell without drafting in a replacement came as a surprise to some. But Bayern chairman Rummenigge is confident the likes of Thomas Muller or Serge Gnabry could fill the void should something happen to Lewandowski.”Sandro asked [to leave] because he had an offer from China with an incredibly high salary,” Rummenigge told reporters.”We discussed that with the coach and Niko Kovac thought that with Thomas Muller and Serge Gnabry, in case of doubt, we have alternatives.”But Robert Lewandowski has never been injured at Bayern Munich since 2014.”Rummenigge also accepted Bayern face a tough task to hunt down a Dortmund side who have lost just once in the league this season.”Borussia Dortmund are playing a very good and very stable season,” he added. “Catching them up there again will be very difficult, but we will work to keep the tension at the top alive.”last_img read more

first_imgLiverpool are determined to build on their Champions League triumph and land more major silverware in 2019-20, says Andy Robertson. The Reds had gone seven years without lifting a trophy before wrapping up a memorable European success in Madrid.Jurgen Klopp’s side, on the back of three previous final defeats under their German coach, made amends for narrowly missing out on the Premier League title by claiming a continental crown. Article continues below Editors’ Picks Emery out of jail – for now – as brilliant Pepe papers over Arsenal’s cracks What is Manchester United’s ownership situation and how would Kevin Glazer’s sale of shares affect the club? Ox-rated! Dream night in Genk for Liverpool ace after injury nightmare Messi a man for all Champions League seasons – but will this really be Barcelona’s? Those on the books at Anfield now have a taste of that winning feeling and are eager to compete across multiple fronts again next term – with two more honours up for grabs on their schedule.“We have got massive games from the off: Manchester City at Wembley in the Community Shield,” Robertson told the club’s official website.“Of course it’s the game just before the season starts but you’re still playing in a massive stadium against one of your biggest rivals. Then we’ve got Chelsea in the Super Cup.“The biggest one is Norwich for getting the Premier League off to a good start in front of our home fans for the first time since we won the Champions League. That’s what we’ve got to use as motivation now – the winning feeling we had.“Last season was completely different, we used the disappointment and heartbreak of losing as motivation to not be in that position again. That’s probably why we had so many last-minute winners, big comebacks and things like that.“This season we need to use that feeling of being on that bus and lifting that trophy to drive us forward. We want more of that feeling. That’ll be in all our minds for the season ahead.”Trent Alexander-Arnold Liverpool 2018-19Robertson contributed significantly to Liverpool’s cause in 2018-19, registering 13 assists across his Premier League and Champions League outings. His efforts were complemented by those on the opposite flank of Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the pair of buccaneering full-backs ready to rekindle their personal battle for posting the best numbers.Robertson added when asked if the pair will be staging another assist competition: “We’ve had a brief discussion over it. We’ll set it up again.“Probably too much was made of it but for me and Trent it brought the best out of us, the numbers we both produced. Near the back end of the season he was unbelievable with the numbers he produced.“I feel it brought the best out of both of us. If we can do that and get similar numbers this season, of course it helps the team. That’s what both of us want to do.“But first and foremost we want to just put in the same performances we put in last season and try to kick on even further.” Subscribe to Goal’s Liverpool Correspondent Neil Jones’ weekly email bringing you the best Liverpool FC writing from around the weblast_img read more
