A public meeting will be held this coming Friday, 13th March, at 6.30pm in Ionad Teampall Chroine as part of the campaign which is calling for the reinstatement of the Gynaecology and Antenatal Clinic in Dungloe Community Hospital.Protestors at Dungloe Community Hospital recently. The clinic which serves a large catchment area of west Donegal, from Fintown to Dunfanaghy and the wider Rosses area, including offshore islands such as Arranmore, has been closed since November 2014 due to the consultant being on sick leave. This now means patients have to travel to Letterkenny to avail of the service there. A campaign group was formed in January made up of concerned individuals, expectant mothers and community representatives and since its formation the group has been active making people in the locality aware of the issue, holding a protest outside the hospital and meeting with politicians and HSE representatives in an effort to have the clinic reopened.Speaking of the up-coming public meeting on Friday, spokesperson for the group Bridie Nic Giolla Easpuic said the time had come for all local politicians to lend their full weight to the campaign as the implications for the continued closure of the clinic could become a matter of life and death.“The HSE clearly haven’t taken into consideration what is involved for the women of all ages who now have to make the round trip to Letterkenny to use a service which was once here in a much more accessible location” Bridie Nic Giolla Easpuic said.“Public transport is exceptionally poor in this region and a journey to Letterkenny from Dungloe can be up to three hours for a round trip, which is particularly arduous for pregnant and elderly women alike. This is added to even more for women from Arranmore Island for example given the distance they have to travel and the fact they are constrained by the hours the ferries operate. “There is also the factor of cost of travel, both financially and time wise for all women who have to travel to Letterkenny. Indeed some or all of these factors are now causing some women to take the decision not to make the journey to Letterkenny which is putting their health at serious risk.”Calling for wide support for Fridays meeting Bridie Nic Giolla Easpuic said this public meeting is very important to all the women of this region.“We need everyone to come along and show their support. This affects us all including the men as the women whose health is being put at risk with this closure are our mothers and grandmothers, sisters, wives and daughters.“We have contacted all our local TD’s and local councillors and have asked them to attend the public meeting in Dungloe on Friday and show their support for the campaign. We can see no reason why any politician would not support the reinstatement of the clinic and do everything they can to support us in our efforts, and we thank those who have stood by us and helped us so far. Advertisement “We look forward to more politicians agreeing to attend the public meeting on Friday and coming on board and working together with our community to ensure this vital service remains in Dungloe in the long term for the health and wellbeing of all the women of our region.”HUGE TURN-OUT EXPECTED AT MEETING TO REINSTATE ANTENATAL CLINIC IN DUNGLOE was last modified: March 11th, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)
Share Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest By Glen Arnold, OSU Extension Field Specialist – Manure managementAs corn silage harvest starts, livestock producers and commercial manure applicators will follow with the fall manure application season. To best capture the nutrients in manure, manure should be incorporated during application or as soon after as possible. Livestock producers should also consider using cover crops to capture more of the manure nutrients and to prevent soil erosion. The most common cover crops used with livestock manure are cereal rye, wheat, and oats. However, farmers have also used radishes, clover, annual ryegrass, Sudan grass or almost anything they are comfortable growing.Cereal rye is the most commonly planted cool-season grass for capturing excess nitrogen. Because rye over-winters, research has shown it can capture and hold 25 to 50 pounds of nitroge per acre , in the organic form as roots and plant tissue. It germinates at lower temperatures than oats so may be planted later, but less nitrogen will be recycled the later the rye is seeded in the fall.Another cover crop that is excellent at recycling nitrogen is wheat. Like cereal rye, wheat germinates at low soil temperatures, overwinters, and is an easy cover crop to control the following spring. It will also capture large amounts of the available nitrogen from livestock manure.Oats are sometimes used as a cover crop in the fall and need to be planted soon after silage harvest. Drilling oats improves germination and growth before frost. Some farmers in northwest Ohio have had great success surface seeding oats and incorporating with shallow tillage.Cover crops can help livestock farmers recapture nutrients and conserve soil by reducing erosion. With potential new rules on the horizon in Ohio pertaining to manure application, all livestock producers should consider Best Management Practices when applying manure. The goal should be to combine nutrient recovery and protect the environment.

It offers customers a fast app-like browsing experience by combining the functionality of a regular web page and the mobile applications that increase the customer experience of an app with the accessibility of visiting a website. Many popular ecommerce platforms are implementing this technique to let merchants empower their e-commerce stores. For instance, the Magento 2.3 update launched a PWA studio which provided merchants with tools to personalize their content, add local preferences, and provide the consistent user experience.Progressive Web App technology converts mobile shopping into an engaging and lightning fast experience.Using Accelerated Mobile PagesAccelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) helps you provide quality content to users and a mobile web experience which is faster and better than the regular mobile apps. A lightning-bolt symbol represents websites using the accelerated mobile page technology before their URLs. For instance, SEMRush is using AMP-immersive technology for its blog pages to provide a better user experience.Though initially this technology was built for blogging websites, later its functionality was extended to e-commerce space where low page speeds were a major issue. Faster user experience in e-commerce websites ensures reduced bounce rate, faster conversions, search engine visibility, and boosted ROI.So, implementing accelerated mobile pages to the homepage, product pages, and product category pages allows e-commerce merchants to maximize their sales, improve average order value, and maintain flexibility and control. Considering its myriad advantages, different brands are today shifting their gears towards their AMP-lification of their e-commerce businesses. For example, the largest online fashion retailer in India, Myntra implemented AMP technology in about 11 days wherein they covered all of their essential landing pages from Google and the individual product pages by implementing PWA technology to derive better performance from those pages as well. As a result, the brand observed that the page load time was lowered by 65% as well as the bounce rate was reduced by 40%. So, there was an overall improvement in e-commerce results. Using Near Field Communication (NFC)NFC is a class of communication protocols that allows two electronic devices to set up communication by bringing one device within the vicinity of 3-4 cm from each other. In this contactless radio technology, one device is portable (mobile phone), and the other is a fixed terminal. E-commerce is one of the popular applications that are supported by NFC technology.Consumers can pay for items by tapping an NFC chip against an NFC terminal. Thus, technology not only saves customers’ time but also provides safety to user privacy. For instance, customers can use their NFC enabled mobile phone device against a reader to pay for a make a purchase.5. Augmented Reality E-commerceHow is it possible that Pokemon Go does not come across our minds while talking about the Augmented Reality? When extended to use in the e-commerce industry, it is known as Augmented Reality E-commerce. Where installing AR apps allow customers to have an immersive experience while shopping, it will enable merchants to have an increased conversion rate. Augmented Reality bridges the gap between an in-store shopping experience and a mobile shopping experience.Key Takeaways for merchants: Provide Product Visualization before buying Soon drone-assisted online parcel deliveries will be done by major e-commerce marketplaces.E-commerce giant Amazon in 2016 conducted its first prime product delivery via drones. The routine air deliveries through drone could probably start in 2019 or 2020.Many other e-commerce brands around the globe are planning to test for parcel deliveries with the help of drone-like devices in the future. Currently, scientists are seeking workable measures and counter-measures for challenges like regulatory issues, capital cost, additional human labor costs, children or animals as obstacles, and more. Once they overcome these problems, in a few years you might find your package dropped by unmanned drones that are fully tracked by the sender.2. Location IndependenceToday ecommerce is not location dependent. Where having and maintaining a physical store was limited to selling to a restricted area, ecommerce if managed correctly has an excellent opportunity to attain exponential growth in a very short time-frame. Selling products online allows you to cross geographic boundaries. As content is the medium of communication innovatively presenting a simple product, a robust content strategy plays a significant role in running a successful e-commerce store. Even if you don’t have a team, many online portals are available where you can order content from. One such example is ineedarticles.com, where you need to put keywords and pay for articles based on a total number of words. London: Britain has asked EU leaders to delay Brexit until June 30, Prime Minister Theresa May told parliament on Wednesday, on eve of an EU summit in Brussels. May said she had written to EU President Donald Tusk “informing him that the UK seeks an extension to the Article 50 period to June 30”. “I don’t want a long extension,” she said, warning that a longer delay would mean Britain having to hold European Parliament elections at the end of May. In the letter to Tusk released by Downing Street, May said she intended to bring the Brexit deal she has negotiated with the EU back to parliament even though MPs have rejected it twice by overwhelming margins. But this will clearly not be completed before 29 March 2019,” she wrote, adding that the timetable for passing the necessary legislation to allow Brexit was “inevitably uncertain”. “I am therefore writing to inform the European Council that the UK is seeking an extension to the Article 50 period… until 30 June 2019.” Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Theresa May faced a cabinet revolt if she asked the EU for a long delay to Brexit, media reports said Wednesday, even after she had warned MPs of such a possibility. Downing Street confirmed that May would be asking EU leaders meeting in Brussels on Thursday to delay Britain’s March 29 exit day by only a short period, saying voters wanted to get on with Brexit. The decision followed a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, where several Brexit-supporting ministers reportedly indicated they might quit if the delay was long. Any delay can only be decided by EU leaders. One source was reported as saying that the divisions at the top of British government made it feel “like the last days of Rome”. May herself has repeatedly said she does not want to delay Brexit, but has conceded this is highly likely given the parliamentary deadlock over the process. MPs have twice rejected the divorce deal she struck with Brussels, and also ruled out leaving the EU with no deal.
